We are having our forth pep assembly right now. The journey sing along is playing, the chairs are being musical, and games are being won. Our class is in the lead, making this a potential turkey for three wins in a row.

UPDATE:  1-17-15:  WE WON THE SPIRIT STICK!  Woo-hooo!

Getting Cozy

12/6/2014

It has been a really busy several weeks at RCAA.  We are staying warm and plugging through.  Our Avon fundraiser could have gone better, but we did have a few big sellers to carry the rest of our team.

Parent teacher conferences went well.  For those I have to reschedule, I sent a note home with your student yesterday.  I will be doing make-up conferences on Tuesday night.

Project 16:49

Amazing folks from project 16:49 are coming to visit our school tomorrow during large group advisory.  You can learn more about project 16:49 by clicking HERE.

A huge thank you goes to AUSTIN for organizing a popcorn fundraiser, this visit, and lots of awareness with his project studying homelessness.

I'm using this video in advisory today to talk about empathy vs. sympathy.  Our students are generally really good at being compassionate, caring human beings.  I think it is partly because our school values time to reflect on values like this, and also because we all hold each-other accountable.  You can see this modeled if you ask any student in the building how we feel about the phrase "shut-up."  Just brace yourself. . . lol. . .

Homecoming and Conferences

Conferences are in full swing!  I hear a lot of giggling, so things must be going pretty painlessly.  If you are not able to make your scheduled conference time, please call to reschedule.

RCAA had a float in the homecoming parade last Friday.  Students walked with our truck and handed out white flags for peace.

Teach Like a Pirate

9/19/2014

Ahoy! Today was national talk like a pirate day.  Mr. Jobb made it the whole morning doing so, and nearly lost his voice.  It was also election day around RCAA.  Two officers and three representatives were elected to student council after our assembly this morning.  All candidates did a wonderful job giving speeches. We are proud!

RCAA Games

Today was the first RCAA game day!  The amazing Mrs. Watson gathered materials, stole items from her poor husband's closet, and spray-painted trophies in preparation of an exciting event.  Fun was had by all.  More photos and video to come.

PS:  I know the slideshow is sideways for some photos.  I can't fix it!

We will return from Noah's Ark around 5:30 today!  Yay for amazing students who have earned some fun. It will go swimmingly!

Some photos from our Luau are below.  Except for the grill melting through the table, it was a grand success.

Luau Tonight!

We have our last Wolf Night of the year this evening from 6:00-9:00.  We are having a Luau.  You should wear island inspired attire (like Mr. Jobb, who is practicing his best hula).  It is $9 a person this time, BUT food and favors are included in the price!  Join us.  We're grilling out!

The minority awards banquet was last night.  We were able to honor five of our incredible students to receive recognition for their stellar academics.

I included a crazy slideshow of your middle school teachers.  We're weird, but fun.

So, if a student is reading this blog: 1) thank you 2) go to bed!  You need rest for the test!

We are in the Cafeteria at the moment and very happy to be eating lunch.  A transformer was blown and we lost power for a bit today.  This gave the fantastic opportunity to partake in some sunshine outside.  We were concerned, however, that our pizza would not be crispy without electricity.   I believe our seventh graders have a new appreciation for their waves and electromagnetic forces projects.

Tomorrow is the "Birthday Party for Us."  We will dance a bit, exchange white elephant gifts, and eat treats. Students:  Don't forget to ran-sack the goodwill pile at your house and wrap up something fun.

THEY KEYBOARDS HAVE ARRIVED!  This is amazing news; we've been waiting for months.  They are pretty fantastic (great quality) and we love them already.  Parents should give their students a push to partake in the Keyboarding Credit we offer.  Click HERE for the page!
