A little throwback action for you: Here is a picture of my eighth grade graduation party. My mother ordered a singing monkey. No joke. And you thought your parents were weird!

We are having our forth pep assembly right now. The journey sing along is playing, the chairs are being musical, and games are being won. Our class is in the lead, making this a potential turkey for three wins in a row.

UPDATE:  1-17-15:  WE WON THE SPIRIT STICK!  Woo-hooo!

Project 16:49

Amazing folks from project 16:49 are coming to visit our school tomorrow during large group advisory.  You can learn more about project 16:49 by clicking HERE.

A huge thank you goes to AUSTIN for organizing a popcorn fundraiser, this visit, and lots of awareness with his project studying homelessness.

I'm using this video in advisory today to talk about empathy vs. sympathy.  Our students are generally really good at being compassionate, caring human beings.  I think it is partly because our school values time to reflect on values like this, and also because we all hold each-other accountable.  You can see this modeled if you ask any student in the building how we feel about the phrase "shut-up."  Just brace yourself. . . lol. . .

Luau Tonight!

We have our last Wolf Night of the year this evening from 6:00-9:00.  We are having a Luau.  You should wear island inspired attire (like Mr. Jobb, who is practicing his best hula).  It is $9 a person this time, BUT food and favors are included in the price!  Join us.  We're grilling out!

The minority awards banquet was last night.  We were able to honor five of our incredible students to receive recognition for their stellar academics.

I included a crazy slideshow of your middle school teachers.  We're weird, but fun.

Don't forget that your teachers and principal are making you a pancake breakfast tomorrow! We will have our reading MAP testing soon after.

So, if a student is reading this blog: 1) thank you 2) go to bed!  You need rest for the test!

Midterm-- Oh My!

It is already midterm!  Four students won $25 iTunes gift cards by earning their way into a drawing for students who were all caught up on their work.

Summer approaches quickly, as does project presentation week.  We love that we can spend more time outside.  Olivia did her misunderstood dog breeds presentation out in the sunshine with great success.

We held our open house on Tuesday night.  There were dozens of prospective students who were dazzled by our very own student guides.  The staff was very proud of the way our students spoke of RCAA and how helpful/honest they were to the families that visited.

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone.  Don't procrastinate your course-work.  Summer-school approaches quickly, too!

Mr. Jobb wasn't here today, but he didn't want us to forget that we had MATH TIME today.  I got this text from him before he got on his flight.  I sang the "happy math time" song, but it wasn't the same.

We got a few thank-you notes from Burdge school!  They were all so sweet.  It was an absolute pleasure visiting them and the other elementary classrooms this week.  Our student-presenters made us proud as they spoke confidently and eloquently about RCAA.  We are lucky to have such amazing students in Beloit, WI!

Our open house is on May 13th at 5:30-6:30.  Please tell any prospective students to come check us out.  Ask Mrs. Peterson if you want an application/brochure/invite to give to a friend.

What a day! We made it through parent teacher conferences, presentation week, and a "long" full-day Friday.  Everyone was a bit twitchy during afternoon project time, but that's when things get silly and fun.

Kudos to those who cleaned the art room.  It was much appreciated.
